How to Forward Your Calls to an AI Receptionist

Verizon, AT&T & T-Mobile call-forwarding codes for 2026 — so a SaaSyVoice agent answers 24/7, screens spam, books meetings, and logs every message.

TL;DR — the fastest way to forward calls to an AI receptionist

Grab a free SaaSyVoice number, then dial your carrier's forwarding code and enter it as the destination:

  • Verizon: dial then your SaaSyVoice number, press Call.
  • AT&T: dial + number + , press Call.
  • T-Mobile: dial + number + , press Call.

To switch forwarding off later: Verizon , AT&T , T-Mobile . Want to try it in 30 seconds? Call our live agent at (415) 707-0712.

Quick-reference: call forwarding codes by carrier

CarrierForward all callsForward when unansweredTurn off

AT&T*21*number#*61*number##21#
T-Mobile**21*1number#**61*1number###21#

number = the 10-digit line you're forwarding to (your SaaSyVoice number), with area code and no dashes. Dial the code, then press Call/Send and wait for the confirmation tone.

Why forward calls to an AI receptionist instead of voicemail?

Because voicemail is where revenue goes to die. 62% of calls to small businesses go unanswered, and 85% of people who hit voicemail never call back — they just dial your competitor. All in, the average small business loses about $126,000 a year to missed calls.

Forward your line to a SaaSyVoice agent and that math flips. Here's what picks up instead of a beep:

Answers every call, 24/7

Nights, weekends, back-to-back meetings, on a ladder — the AI picks up on the first ring, every time. No more lost leads to voicemail.

Tells telemarketers to take a hike

Spam and robo-pitches get screened, shut down, and logged — politely but firmly — so they never reach you. Real callers get the white-glove treatment.

Books meetings on your calendar

Qualified callers get scheduled straight onto your Google Calendar or Outlook, with a text confirmation sent automatically. No back-and-forth.

Takes detailed messages in your CRM

Every call becomes a caller profile in your SaaSyVoice dashboard — who called, what they wanted, full transcript, and notes you can search later.

1 Get the number you'll forward to

Create a free account at app.saasyvoice.ai and claim a free US number in any area code — this becomes your AI receptionist's line. (Already have a number you love? You can keep using your existing line as your public number; the SaaSyVoice number just lives behind the scenes.)

No credit card required. Every account starts with a free 15-minute trial. Point your forwarding at the trial number first to hear the agent live before you pick a plan ($29 / $99 / $299 per month).

2 Choose your forwarding type

There are two ways to forward — pick based on how hands-off you want to be:

Forward all calls

Every call goes straight to the AI; your phone never rings. Best for true 24/7 coverage, after-hours, vacations, or a dedicated business line. No spam ever reaches you, and every caller gets logged.

Forward only unanswered

Your phone rings first; only calls you miss or can't take roll to the AI. Best when you still want to grab calls from people you know and use the AI as a safety net so nothing hits voicemail.

Rule of thumb: start with forward-when-unanswered to build trust, then switch to forward-all once you want zero missed calls. Given that 85% of voicemail callers never ring back, forward-all is the highest-capture setting.

3 Dial your carrier's forwarding code

Find your carrier below. Dial from the phone whose calls you're forwarding, and enter your SaaSyVoice number as the destination (10 digits, with area code).

Verizon call forwarding

Star codes (not GSM)

Verizon uses simple star codes you dial like a phone call — not the **21* GSM strings other carriers use. Dial the code, the full 10-digit number (area code required), then press Call.

Forward all calls (your phone never rings)
Turn on: *72 + 10-digit number Turn off: *73

Best for true 24/7 hands-off coverage. Dial *72 immediately followed by your SaaSyVoice number, then press Call and wait for the confirmation tone. Works even when your phone is off — the call never touches your handset.

Forward only when you don’t answer or you’re busy
Turn on: *71 + 10-digit number Turn off: *73

Your phone rings first; the call rolls to the AI only if you don’t pick up or you’re on another line. Verizon’s one conditional code (“No Answer / Busy Transfer”) covers both. Note: Verizon does not let you set the ring count, and *73 cancels every forwarding type.

Prefer not to dial codes? Toggle Call Forwarding in the My Verizon app or at verizon.com, or call *611 / 800-922-0204.

AT&T call forwarding

GSM codes

AT&T wireless uses GSM codes. The forward-all code below is straight from AT&T support. Dial the full string including the * and #, then press Call. (Heads up: *72 / *73 are AT&T home-phone codes — they do not work on wireless.)

Forward all calls (your phone never rings)
Turn on: *21* + 10-digit number + # Turn off: #21#

AT&T-official. Dial *21*, your SaaSyVoice number, then #, press Call, and wait ~3 seconds for confirmation. Check status anytime with *#21#.

Forward only when you don’t answer
Turn on: *61* + 10-digit number + # Turn off: ##61#

Conditional forwarding. Works on most AT&T GSM handsets but isn’t published on AT&T’s main support article — some phones need the **61* form instead. Test it with a call before you rely on it.

Forward when busy
Turn on: *67* + 10-digit number + # Turn off: ##67#

Fires only when you’re already on a call. Same caveat: GSM-standard, but verify on your handset. Use ##002# to cancel every forwarding rule at once.

You can also manage forwarding in the myAT&T app, or dial 611 from your AT&T phone.

T-Mobile call forwarding

GSM codes

T-Mobile uses GSM codes and asks you to include a leading 1 before the 10-digit number. All four codes below are confirmed on T-Mobile’s official short-codes page. Dial the full string, then press Call.

Forward all calls (your phone never rings)
Turn on: **21*1 + 10-digit number + # Turn off: ##21#

Example: **21*14157070712#. Unconditional forwarding overrides every other rule while it’s on.

Forward only when you don’t answer
Turn on: **61*1 + 10-digit number + # Turn off: ##61#

Calls ring your phone first. You can set the ring delay (5–30 seconds) with **61*number**seconds# — e.g. **61*14157070712**20#.

Forward when busy
Turn on: **67*1 + 10-digit number + # Turn off: ##67#

Triggers only when you’re on another call.

Forward when unreachable (off / no signal)
Turn on: **62*1 + 10-digit number + # Turn off: ##62#

Catches calls when your phone is powered off or out of coverage. Reset every forwarding rule at once with ##004#.

You can also dial 611 from your T-Mobile phone for help enabling forwarding on your line.

Prefer no codes? On iPhone, open Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding and enter your SaaSyVoice number (this controls forward-all only). On Android, open the Phone app → Settings → Calls → Call forwarding. Conditional forwarding still needs the carrier codes above.

4 Test it — then watch the dashboard light up

Call your own number from a different phone and confirm the SaaSyVoice agent answers (not your voicemail). If voicemail grabs it first on conditional forwarding, your voicemail is picking up too early — switch to forward-all, or lengthen the ring delay (T-Mobile: **61*number**20#).

From then on, every call becomes a caller profile in your SaaSyVoice dashboard: who called, what they wanted, the full transcript, any meeting booked, and notes the agent will remember next time. That's your built-in CRM — no lookups, no copying things into a spreadsheet.

Troubleshooting & gotchas

  • Always include the area code. Enter the destination as 10 digits with no dashes or leading 1 (e.g. 4157070712). Most failed activations are a missing area code.
  • Voicemail stealing the call? On conditional forwarding, your carrier voicemail can answer before the call forwards. Lengthen the ring delay or use forward-all to bypass voicemail entirely.
  • Verizon ≠ GSM. The **21* / **61* codes won't work on Verizon — use *72 / *71 / *73.
  • Dual-SIM / eSIM: forwarding is set per line. Program the code on the line your business calls actually arrive on, and confirm with a test call.
  • Prepaid plans: some don't support conditional forwarding. If *71 / **61* errors out, use forward-all or set it in the carrier app.

Frequently asked questions

What is the call forwarding code for Verizon?

On Verizon, dial *72 followed by the 10-digit number you want to forward to (area code required), then press Call. To forward only when you don’t answer or you’re busy, use *71 instead. Turn all forwarding off with *73.

What is the call forwarding code for AT&T?

On AT&T wireless, dial *21* then the 10-digit destination number then # and press Call to forward all calls. Turn it off with #21#, and check status with *#21#. AT&T’s home-phone codes (*72/*73) do not work on wireless.

What is the call forwarding code for T-Mobile?

On T-Mobile, dial **21*1 then the 10-digit number then # to forward all calls (include the leading 1, e.g. **21*14157070712#). Turn it off with ##21#. Use **61*1number# to forward only unanswered calls.

How do I turn off (deactivate) call forwarding?

Verizon: dial *73. AT&T and T-Mobile (any GSM carrier): #21# turns off forward-all, ##61# turns off no-answer forwarding, and ##002# (AT&T) or ##004# (T-Mobile) clears every forwarding rule at once. Always wait for the confirmation tone, then place a test call to confirm your phone rings again.

How do I forward calls only when I don’t answer or I’m busy?

That’s called conditional forwarding. Verizon uses *71 (covers no-answer and busy in one code). AT&T and T-Mobile use **61* for no-answer and **67* for busy. Your phone rings first and only unanswered calls roll to the AI — great if you still want to take calls from people you recognize.

Does call forwarding cost money or use my minutes?

On the major carriers there’s no monthly fee to enable forwarding, and on unlimited plans it’s free. On limited or prepaid plans, the forwarded leg of the call can use your plan minutes. SaaSyVoice itself starts with a free 15-minute trial (no credit card); paid plans are $29, $99, or $299 per month.

Can I keep my existing phone number and still forward calls to an AI?

Yes. You keep your real number on your business cards and listings exactly as-is. Forwarding simply routes incoming calls to your SaaSyVoice number behind the scenes. Callers never see or learn the SaaSyVoice number — forwarding is invisible to them.

How do I check if call forwarding is currently active?

On AT&T and T-Mobile, dial *#21# to see whether forward-all is on. Verizon doesn’t offer a status code — check the My Verizon app or just call your own number from another phone. Testing with a real call is the most reliable check on any carrier.

Will the caller know my call was forwarded to an AI receptionist?

No. The call connects seamlessly and the SaaSyVoice agent answers with your custom greeting. It sounds natural, handles interruptions, and speaks the caller’s language — the forwarding hop is invisible.

Can an AI receptionist block spam and telemarketer calls?

Yes. SaaSyVoice screens every caller, recognizes sales pitches and robocalls, and shuts them down without bothering you — while still logging them. Genuine customers get qualified, booked, or transferred to you.

Does forwarding calls to an AI drain my phone battery?

No. With unconditional forwarding (*72 / **21*) the call never reaches your handset at all, so there’s zero battery or signal impact. Conditional forwarding rings your phone briefly first, just like a normal call.

What happens to the call after the AI answers it?

Every call is saved as a caller profile in your SaaSyVoice dashboard — full transcript, the caller’s details, what they needed, and any meeting it booked. You review messages, see booked appointments, and add notes the agent will remember on the next call.
